On January 8th, Mark and I flew out to Boston to look at places to live. I had done some research online prior to see what the prices looked like and it is WAY more expensive. Currently we live in a two bedroom/two bath apartment, but it looked like we were going to have to pay double what we pay now just for a one bedroom! We met with the Realtor on Saturday morning and we looked at quite a variety of places. We looked primarily at apartments, but we did get to see one house that was built in the late 1800's. It was a two story house that had been converted into a town house with one residence on the ground level and the other on the second story. It was quite interesting...it consisted of 5 rooms that were like bedrooms. The kitchen was in one room and then you could do whatever you wanted with the others. It even had one room with a closet that was about 6 inches deep...not sure what you could hang in there.
After looking at a couple different places, we came to this apartment complex called Stonegate. I had seen it online prior to going out to Boston and I have to admit I had already kind of fell in love with the place. They showed us a one bedroom with a loft and a two bedroom apartment. We really like the one bedroom with a loft and it didn't seem to be out of our price range. We didn't want to do anything right away since it was one of the first ones that we looked at, but the apartment manager told us that it was the only one they had available and she had some people coming in the afternoon to look at it. We looked at some more places, but kept comparing them to Stonegate. So after a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a cashiers check (we both forgot our checkbooks) we headed back and put a deposit down on the apartment. So know we have a place to live! And it has room for our guestroom furniture, so we hope you will come visit us in Boston!

Here is the floorplan of our apartment.
And here are some pictures that I took of the exterior of the complex.
This is the clubhouse...and yes that white stuff is snow! (I am going to freeze!)

Hey, those look like very nice apartments! I was so excited when we got your Christmas card and you gave your blog address. I know we have never met but I've heard so many stories about our husbands when they were younger.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to getting to know you better!
